7th World Vintage Skeet Championships
Cleveland, Ohio was the home of the NSSA’s First World Shoot in 1935. To commemorate this event in 2001, we began the NSSA World Vintage Skeet Championships [again in Ohio], using skeet rules and equipment from the 1935 era. The game is catching on, and the 7th World Vintage Skeet Championships is scheduled for Chicago’s Northbrook Sports Club, May 18-20th. Here is a description of the program from the host club’s website:
“Each May the National Classic welcomes hundreds of competitors and thousands of spectators to a celebration of fine arms, and casual and registered clay target competitions. In fact, the National Classic is a 3 day festival with something to offer every fine arms, wing-shooting and clays enthusiast.
Friday marks the beginning of the NSSA World Vintage Skeet Championships featuring 1930’s rules for SxS and Pump Action guns. In addition, Preliminary events for the “NCSF Sporting Clays Championship” and U.S. Veteran’s Open will be available for all sporting competitors, both registered and non-registered.
Saturday and Sunday the Sporting Clays Championships begin in earnest. The NCSF Sporting Championship features a 100 target course which may be shot on either day. Re-entry by gauge or action style is encouraged for this non-registered casual competition event offering Lewis Class awards and prizes.
Saturday also marks the start of the nations first ever NSCA U.S. Veterans Open, a 200 target main event with cash payouts totaling up to $20,000* for registered competitors. The main event will be shot over two days with 100 targets each day.
U.S. Veterans Open entries limited to the first 250 shooters.
In true Game Fair tradition, the weekend will feature world renowned makers, vendors and fitters of the best in Game and Competition Target guns Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The exhibition will present a vast array of fine arms, accessories and apparel to rival the finest shows in the country.”
