Suggestions for increased participation at our
2010 State Skeet Shoot

I believe that better participation at the Ohio State Shoot equates directly to a stronger State Association!

With that in mind, I offer my suggestions for the 2010 Ohio State Shoot.  I am convinced these would increase interest and participation at our State Championships:

-Offer more concurrent events in each gauge.  For example, we have the Skillman Trophy for the top 12 gauge Side by Side shooter, perhaps we should have additional offerings in the smaller gauges to bring in more SxS fans?

-Offer International skeet shooters a chance to participate at our State Shoot with an modified International Skeet exhibition match using standard speed targets and do away with the mandatory low gun, keeping it as an option.  Retain the delayed target release but use the standard America target sequence.  [This event is not designed to replace the traditional 300 target State International Championships!]

-Offer a free clinic.  Encourage more American shooters to try the International Game with a short ‘Introduction to International’ clinic hosted for free by Ohio’s past and present All-Americans.  This short clinic and relaxed rules would make this an interesting side game.  Certainly an opportunity to welcome others to this variation of the Skeet game.

-Offer a SCTP [Scholastic Clay Target Program] concurrent team event in the 12 Gauge Event.  Here is a wonderful opportunity to bring more young shooters into our game.

-Offer Ohio Zone Team Competition and pit the top AA/A/B/C/D shooters from each Zone [NE/NW/SW/SE] against one another .   Only the top shooter in each Class/Zone will be used, but everyone can participate.  B/C/D shooters are encouraged [and needed] to make this work.  Shooters need not shoot together, but would simply declare their Zone as they would any other concurrent event.

-What would you suggest?  I know you have some good ideas.

Let your OSSA Representative have your ideas.  This is YOUR Association, so don’t be timid!
